Overview
This is a typical rice-rice cropping system area, identified in Eastern India (Odisha State). The site will be used for improvement of rice classification, developing models for rice yield estimation and will aim to establish ‘best practices’ for Rice-Rice agricultural systems. This site will serve for both JECAM and AsiaRiCE.

In Situ Observations
Ground truth
- Crop Type(s): Rice
- Collection Protocol:
To carry out the crop condition and production assessment extensive Ground truth (Minimum 100) will be collected, which will cover various crops in the study area
- Frequency:
Crop Parameters
- Crop Type(s): Rice
- Collection Protocol:
Crop parameters such as Plant population, Plant height, Leaf area Index will be collected regularly from the identified locations of the study area. Field photographs will be taken at various stages of crop to identify the crop condition and compare with satellite-based observations
- Frequency:
Yield
- Crop Type(s): Rice
- Collection Protocol:
Crop Cutting Experiments (CCEs) will be done in selected locations to validate the estimates obtained using advanced approaches
