Overview
“we want to identify spectral signatures of sugarcane to discriminate different sugarcane varieties and growth stages to develop sugarcane yield prediction and crop growth model, involving assimilation of optical and SAR satellite data of high spatial resolution. Along with this crop water stress index and nitrogen nutrition prescription maps will be prepared so that precision irrigation and nitrogen application will be used for precision agriculture. This will require optical, SAR and thermal data along with field data.
Project Objectives
Estimating Crop Area
Operational Implementation Plan
Using the EO temporal data combination with other indices e.g NDVI acreage estimation of sugarcane crop will be done.
Field size measurement
Acre,hectare
Estimating Crop Conditions
Operational Implementation Plan
spatial crop water stress index maps will be generated using the optical data along with ground truth data.
Crop Conditions
- Biological Stress (including pest)
- Biological Stress
Estimation of Biophysical Variables
Operational Implementation Plan
Biophysical Variables
- Vegetation Indices (NDVI, EVI, SAVI, etc.)
- LAI (Leaf Area Index)
- Biomass
- fAPAR
